Knitting with Nanny - Deb's Desk

Posted on 4 July 2017

Over the last couple of weeks Mum (Nanny Dale) has been knitting. Knitting as part of our electives initially, and now on a mission to teach some more of the children to knit.  She’s obsessed (don’t tell her I put it like that).  Perhaps inspired, delighted, passionate would sound better to her ears.  It is something I’ve seen before. Many years ago the obsession meant slippers for a class of 28, Year 5 and 6 students. She would come into my class in the afternoons with wool for the children to choose their colours…the next day reappearing with a pair of slippers ready for wearing.

As we head into the holiday break I’ve been thinking about how I’ll be able to spend some special time with Mum…doing the things that she loves to do…probably in the garden!  Hopefully you will also be able to take the time to just ‘be’ with your children, or share them with the extended whanau.

Wishing you all a relaxing or exciting holiday break.
