Manakau School

End of Term 3 - From Deb's Desk

Posted on 22 September 2016

Teaching has got to be one of the best jobs in the world! A lofty statement you might think, however I’ll share my reasoning. Every day I come to work and I’m not quite sure what the day will hold. I spend my time with people who have new learning they want to share with me, excitement from their home space that they are busting to show, a new trick, songs, skills that they’ve just mastered and are really proud of! People share their new dogs and new sisters, their creativity with lego and art. The last couple of weeks have been amazing. Every day I am greeted by people…children, their parents, colleagues and volunteers who genuinely want to be a part of the learning and laughter at Manakau School. As your principal I am stoked to share this small piece of paradise with you all. You may have seen the collection of weather boards, tyres, sticks and other bits and pieces moving around the school field. This collection has been a fort in the little bush area, a hut around the fruit trees, a base for war by the native trees, and most recently an orchestra. Our children are creative opportunists, they see possibilities in the world around them.
