Manakau School

From Deb's Desk - Week 10

Posted on 7 April 2016

The Otaki Rural Sports Group, which includes all Primary Schools in the Otaki area, from Manakau to Te Horo joined together for the Annual Athletics Day. It was spectacular! Great weather, and students from all schools who gave 100%. Our school was responsible for running the discus event and I was very impressed with the behaviour and attitude of all the students. It was a special day…each time a new group of children came to my event I was greeted by people that I knew from my time at Waitohu School and Otaki College. Many had returned to our area after spending time in different countries or parts of New Zealand. Many were grandparents of the competitors, parents of people that I, or my sisters, went to school with. To me it was a clear indication that the Horowhenua and Otaki area is a great place to live, and raise a family. Celebrating school success at this competitive event was a bonus!
